general questions

what are printable templates?

With our print-ready templates you can download and print your design however you want—at home, at a copy shop, with a professional printer, or with an online service.

• You can download, personalize (based on design) and print instantly.

• Most printables are formatted to print on 8.5” x 11”sized sheets (see details on product listing)

will I receive anything in the mail/by email?

All of our templates are downloads, so nothing will be mailed to you.

*Unless you purchase a mug, in which case it will be shipped to the address on your Etsy account.

paper questions

what type of paper should I use?

We recommend printing on heavy card stock, 80lb or thicker, bright white (for best results with gold foil designs), smooth (not textured), matte (not glossy) paper. If you are printing on kraft paper, make sure it is card stock weight and smooth. See notes on DIY and working with printers.

what size paper should I use?

Most of our printables are set to print on an 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper. See details on product listing to be sure.

software questions

do I need any special software to edit my printable?

You will need the most up-to-date version of Adobe Reader, which is a free program. Using other software programs may alter the size, appearance and formatting of the design and fonts. Our printables were designed to work specifically with Reader. If you need to download the software, it can be found here: https://get.adobe.com/reader

font questions

do I need to install any special fonts?

Our printables do not require any new fonts to be installed, as long as you are editing with the required software, Adobe Reader.

can I change the color of my font?

Yes, you can change the color of EDITABLE fonts ONLY.

printing questions

should I print at home?

We recommend considering the quality of your home printer, the quantity that you need to print, and if the design is heavily saturated with color and will use a lot of ink to print it (for example chalkboard designs). Check the maximum paper thickness that your printer can handle. If you are unsure, you can Google your printer model and read the printer manual.

Make sure to test out your printer and cutting skills. Download a sample PDF file to your desktop and test print one copy. Make sure your printer is set to its highest quality setting and to print same size (rather than "scale to"). This very important -- you must print at 100%.

should I print at a copy shop?

Printing at a copy shop is also very affordable. Look at all the card stock choices they offer and always test print a sample on the paper of your choice. This way you can see how the color looks printed and how your final product will look. We recommend either FedEx Office or Staples. We have tested printing our files at both places and think both offer competitive printing services and the color and quality looks great for the competitive prices they offer.

my printer is asking for a Copy Right Release..

Most printers do not require one, but if your printer asks please download our Copy Right Release form on our resources page.

how many times can I print my file?

As many times as you want, as long as it is for your personal use only.

can I sell the prints?

No. Printables files are for personal use only. Please see our terms of use below.
