Printing Gold Textured Invites

Over and over, so many people ask me where to print our designs that have gold textured elements (handlettered text or gold elements in the design.)  So here's the skinny on this:

. Our designs are not actual real gold foil. They gold elements are "faux" gold texture that we designed to print as well as possible on a 4-color process to have the look-of gold texture.

. If you wanted real gold-foil, you would have to payout major $$$. Our designs cost a less than $6 for invites.

We would recommend that for designs with gold elements, you consider getting them printed at Staples or FedEx Office on cover stock. We've had great success at both places. However -- you might want to getting one sample printed as a test print before you get your entire project printed. This way you can see what it looks like and do a proof of everything.

Just our two cents!  Let us know how your projects turn out.

THE PERFECT PHOTO!

This photo was MADE for this card design! I couldn't believe how absolutely cute and perfect our card and this photo fit together when I saw it on Snapfish's Instagram. On a whim, I contacted the person who posted it, Brooke Petersen (@brookeandJ), and asked if we could use it on our website. She said yes!

HOW TO: CREATE AN ELEGANT WEDDING FAUX WOOD SIGN (FOR UNDER $10)

Here is a quick DIY how-to instructions to create a faux wood wedding sign. This rustic wedding sign looks great and adds an elegant message to welcome your guests.

1. Purchase the digital file from our Etsy store and input your info and save file

2. Take the file to FedEx Office or Staples and get color prints of front and back (18x24")

Make sure to ask about all color printing options and pricing before you get these printed

Make sure to ask about all color printing options and pricing before you get these printed

3. Get supplies you will need: scissors, double-sided tape, exacto knife, metal ruler (or a straight edge), foam core board,  cut to slightly smaller size than 18x24" (we cut ours to 17x23")

4. Put the foam core board on top of the printed front design and tape down using an adhesive like double-sided tape. Do not use a liquid based glue as it might wrinkle the paper. Make sure you center as best as possible (see below.)

Now you are going to basically just wrap the front around the foam core then tape down the sides to the back of the board, then tuck all the edges on the back with another wood print to give it a clean tailored look.

5. Now cut the corners out, slightly on an angle, going inward. You will be folding the edges of the extra paper inward so we are getting rid of any extra paper. We recommend drawing out the cut lines in pencil as a guide. See cut corners below.

6. Fold extra paper in and on to back of foam core board. Fold in all sides. Then tape it down using double-sided tape. See below.

Tape down one side at a time, flattening as you go to get rid of any bubbles.

7. Backer -- get the printed backer and cut it slightly larger than the white space it is going to cover. You are going to put this on top of the folded extra paper that just wrapped the foam core board.

Once you tape down the backer print, here's what it wlll look like, back and front -- turned out pretty well, right?

If you want to hang this sign, you can just add a string or ribbon (we used twine to go with the rustic wedding look) and taped it down before we close-taped the top back of the print out.

Make sure to put the string so it is centered on the board

PHOTO SHOOT AT LASDON PARK, SOMERS, NY

We did a quick photo shoot to get some real photography for mockups for our Wedding signs at the lovely Lasdon Park in Somers, NY. I've driven by this park a million times without really going in and exploring the grounds. Sooooo lovely! Here are a few pix!

Such lovely flowers! Shhhhh... I dont think we are allowed to pick these!

NEW FRIDGE, 3 MONTHS IN THE MAKING

Planning, planning, planning! How hard could it be to get a new fridge, right? Set a budget of say... $2,000 and should have a decent enough fridge. 3 months and 4X+ over budget later, it's finally here!

BEFORE: old Kenmore fridge; lasted 16 years, so can't complain.

STONE BARNS FLOWER CSA WEEK 16 (SURPRISE ENCORE!)

I thought last week was the final Flower CSA, but surprise! Farmer Shannon and her team put together a bonus bunch of single variety bouquets. Either zinnias, dahlias or lisinathus. I chose the stunning dahlias. Big, white and wow! So for an encore appearance, our flower dog, Buck, shows off the white dahlia. (He obviously did not volunteer for this assignment.)

Sooooooooo much thanks to Shannon, her team, and my thoughtful neighbor, Bobbie, who delivered my Flower CSA every week! XOXO.

Bucks was so patient! Look at those beautiful, big, brown eyes!

STONE BARNS FLOWER CSA WEEK 15

Final week! And.... "Wow" was what I said to myself when I saw this bouquet. The white dahlias were flanked by a flowing cascade of luscious green leaves, creating a lovely movement of color and rhythm to create a GORGEOUS design arrangement!

That's me, the lucky girl who got to enjoy 15 weeks of the most gorgeous flowers!

STONE BARNS FLOWER CSA WEEK 11

Week 11... that means only 4 more to go! Wow, this summer has been sooooooooo hot but it now seems to have flown by. Week 11's photos were not taken by me; rather by the very capable duo, Lauren and Marta (our summer intern.) I was busy running off to Richmond, VA. This bouquet smelled SO good! See those sage leaves shooting out? Not only do they look great, they smelled great too.

STONE BARNS FLOWER CSA WEEK 9

I am so behind (again!) posting weeks 9 and 10, back to back, because well, it's Wed and we are getting Week 11 TODAY! I have to say that this has been a bit overwhelming and next time I do this, will definitely not be taking photos, and just be enjoying the flowers.

Loved the peaches and oranges in this bouquet (found a great stone wall as backdrop)

STONE BARNS FLOWER CSA WEEK 8

Week 8: by far, my favorite! Apricot hues and accents really made this bouquet look very rustic and summery at the same time.
